I’m happy to be here!

You would think that this statement would be easily accepted by most and not questioned. However, while out to dinner with some friends I asked the overwhelming question “Why?” All of a sudden I felt like I was on an interview. After having a bunch of thoughts run through my head I gave her the quickest, truest, and most simple answer I could – “I like to create things.” That was it. I want to be able to create something that people will interact with every day. So why did I decide to go with Ruby?

Well it’s open source. There is a great online and in-person community of people ready to share their knowledge. There are great video tutorials and free guides available. I have read that its a great language for a first newbie.

I would be lying to you if I didn’t say that job security and growth is not a factor. These are very serious factors that add to this equation. However, at the core is the desire to create something that I can think up. Besides I am an unapologetically curious person. I enjoy learning and developing new skills…wish me luck.
